As promised last year, the 12.8 km Sukhumvit Line East Extension is now open!
While the new travel fares have not been announced yet, the eight stations will be free to use for the first four months (until April 2019).
The chosen end date is not random: BTS expects to open the first station of the Sukhumvit Line North Extension, Ladphrao Intersection, at the same time.
If BTS follows the same pattern as for the East Extension, the rest of the 11.4 km North Extension is expected to open by December 2020.
⚠ A word of caution for everybody that would like to travel in this new extension: if your travel plans go past Samrong station, you will need to get off at Samrong station and take another train to Kheha (or to Mo Chit, if you’re coming from the other way).
This has been done to not hurt the current train frequency in the main part of the line, while we wait (and hope) for new rolling stock (expected to come in April 2019) .
